ROCKIES 7, WHITE SOX 3 Evil or Very Mad
at Tucson, Ariz.
Wednesday, Feb. 27
Rockies at the plate: Matt Holliday looks in midseason form. The defending National League batting champion singled off of John Danks and doubled high off of the center-field wall against Bobby Jenks in the third.

White Sox at the plate: Brian Anderson, playing left field, doubled off the left-field wall in the second and walked in the fourth to start his bid to work his way back into roster contention. Josh Fields delivered a run-scoring single in the second.

Rockies on the mound: Jeff Francis yielded one run on three hits over two innings. Colorado's Opening Day starter struck out one and didn't issue a walk, but he did hit Jim Thome with a pitch in the first.

White Sox on the mound: John Danks gave up a home run to Troy Tulowitzki in the opening frame, but otherwise looked sharp over two innings. The southpaw picked up three strikeouts, with two of them being called.

Cactus League records: Rockies 1-0; White Sox 0-1.

Up next: The two teams meet again on Thursday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field, with Jose Contreras and Aaron Cook getting the starts. The White Sox play six games against the Rockies this spring.

health is the key for the sox to have a good season. I like Swisher & The O.C going 1-2........thome - Konerko - Dye need to come up big. Crede and or Fields will need to contribute as well. Mix of young players and Vets......plus not sold on our pitching so we will need to put up some runs to help them out

WHITE SOX 7, DIAMONDBACKS 5
at Tucson, Ariz.
Friday, Feb. 29
White Sox at the plate: Jerry Owens drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning when his infield single to short scored Jeff Liefer from third. Juan Uribe drove in a pair of runs with a double off the center-field wall in the fourth inning. Uribe tried to stretch the hit into a triple, but was thrown out. It was Uribe's second hit of the game, as he also legged out an infield single in the third. Orlando Cabrera drove home the team's first run with a single in the third, and Jim Thome followed him with an RBI single of his own.

D-backs at the plate: Mark Reynolds blasted a three-run homer far over the left-field wall in the fourth inning to get the D-backs on the board. The homer scored Conor Jackson and Eric Byrnes, who had singled ahead of him. Jackson was 2-for-3 in the game to bring his spring average to .667.

White Sox on the mound: Probable Opening Day starter Mark Buehrle allowed one hit and one walk while striking out a pair in two innings of work. The lefty walked leadoff man Chris Young and allowed a single to Jackson in the first, but had a perfect second inning. Setup man Octavio Dotel retired the side in order in the third.

D-backs on the mound: Brandon Webb was questionable for his start with flu symptoms, but wound up pitching well in two scoreless innings. Billy Buckner, who was acquired from Kansas City in the offseason, made his D-backs debut and got roughed up a bit, allowing four runs in two innings. Dustin Nippert suffered the loss as he allowed three runs in the ninth, his lone inning of work.

Cactus League records: White Sox 2-1; D-backs 0-1-1

Up next: The D-backs play host to the White Sox on Saturday, and right-hander Dan Haren will make his Arizona debut. Shortstop Stephen Drew (wisdom teeth extracton) is expected to make his first appearance of the Cactus League. Right-hander Gavin Floyd will start for the White Sox. Bobby Jenks is also expected to see action in the game.

We need the Pitchers to step it up and I'm looking for a solid season from Danks, he will struggle but he should be a good back end of the rotation starter.

WHITE SOX 7, ANGELS 6
at Tucson, Ariz.
Tuesday, March 4
Angels at the plate: Reggie Willits singled twice in three at-bats at the top of an Angels lineup missing a few regulars. But it was Kendry Morales who delivered the big drive off White Sox starter Jose Contreras, launching a two-run home run with one out in the second. Brandon Wood hit a solo shot in the fifth.

White Sox at the plate: If Paul Konerko continues on his early torrid pace, he might set a new Cactus League record for batting average. Konerko finished 3-for-3 Tuesday with two runs scored and one RBI, leaving him hitting at a .714 clip. Konerko has 10 hits in 14 spring at-bats. A.J. Pierzynski doubled home two with the bases loaded in the first, while Brian Anderson's two hits raised his average to .391. Nick Swisher hit a two-run double in the ninth for tying and winning runs.

Angels on the mound: Ervin Santana lasted 2 2/3 innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits. The right-hander struck out three and walked one, getting touched up for both White Sox tallies with two outs in the first.

White Sox on the mound: Contreras turned in his second strong spring start, allowing one eared run on two hits over three innings. Contreras also fanned one and didn't issue a walk.

Cactus League records: Angels 3-2; White Sox 4-4.

Up next: The White Sox visit Hi Corbett Field, with Mark Buehrle making his second spring start, facing off against Colorado's Franklin Morales. Scott Linebrink also is scheduled to work two innings.

RANGERS 6, WHITE SOX 1
at Tucson, Ariz.
Thursday, March 6
Rangers at the plate: Travis Metcalf homered twice, including a two-run home run off of Charlie Haeger in the second. David Murphy also went deep, while John Mayberry added a double and a single, scoring one and driving home another.

White Sox at the plate: Paul Phillips made the most of his start behind the plate, singling and driving in the only run allowed by Vicente Padilla.

Rangers on the mound: Padilla looked sharp over his three innings. The right-hander yielded one unearned run on one hit, striking out two.

White Sox on the mound: Starting in place of Gavin Floyd, who was sidelined by the flu, Haeger allowed three runs on five hits over three innings. He fanned two and walked two.

Cactus League records: Rangers 5-3-1; White Sox 5-5.

Up next: A number of the White Sox position player regulars will be making the trip to Tempe on Friday, facing off against the Angels and Jon Garland, who spent the last eight years as part of Chicago's rotation. Lance Broadway gets the start for the road contest. The White Sox also will be playing host to the Diamondbacks, with Nick Masset trying to build off his three scoreless innings Sunday in Hermosillo, Mexico. Both games start at 3:05 p.m. CT. Texas hosts Milwaukee, with Jason Jennings taking the mound.
