2008 White Sox Empty 2008 White Sox

Post by TDANZA420 Tue Apr 01, 2008 7:23 am

They lost game 1 10-8 but in wild fashion. After Thome belted a 2run homer Mark Burhle is unable to escape the 2nd (like in mlb 2k8 jajaja) and gives up 7 runs. Sox trail 2-7, Thome blast another 2 run homer to make it 4-7........Nick Massett who made the team cause he was out of options (if sent down to the minors any team could pick him up on waivers) comes in and shuts down the tribe. Sox manage to tie it when Nick Swisher and The O.C get back to back singles and Konerko knocks them in with a 2run single. On to the 8th where sox have bases loaded no outs and fail to score. Crede was "tagged out" at home but clearly it looked like the catcher missed the tag but from where the ump was standing he could not tell. Thome then grounds to second and when they try to pull the double play The O.C slides into the SS like EVERY player would to break it up and gets called for baserunner interferance resulting in a double play. Strange cause earlier in the game a member of the tribe slid about 4-5 feet to the side of the base and completely took out O.C and the umps said nothing. So a few iffy calls that could have turned the game around but you take the good with the bad. Even thou the sox lost this team showd it has the Offense to put up runs, now we just need to get the pitching sorted out

yeah first inning went well but then nada.......CC got hit hard to. Thome if healthy is a beast and always has been. Dye 3-4 was nice to see to. Hopefully Javier can shut them down and the O can keep it up........

by the way, Melky is off to a nice start. 2 great grabs in the field and takes one deep..........hugh pickup for my fantasy team jajaja (pauile adding 2rbi's was nice to)

So far so good people. 4-2

After dropping 2 of 3 to the Tribe we bounce back and sweep the Tigers and now look to do the same against the twinkies. Home opener today and with any luck i will be leaving work to go home, fire up the grill and watch some white sox baseball

niiice...im at a crossroad on whether I should continue to root for the Tigers to lose or the Redsox since they are playing each other in the next series.....I mean the bigger the whole Tigers dig themselves in, is one less team the Yankees need to worry about. Although I don't want the Redsox to sweep them, becuase the next series they play is against the Yankees and I don't want them to be a hot team when we play them.

Home Opener was another great game. After giving up a run in the first the Sox came back to tie it 1-1 only to give up another run in the 2nd to go down 2-1. Good pitching by both teams and the sox found themselfs down 3-2 heading into the home half of the 7th. The O.C grounded out, Thome reached on a ground ball. Paulie connects with a big single getting Thome to 3rd. Dye who seemed to fight off about 9 pitches smacks a single to the gap and ties it up 3-3. A.J strikes out and Carlos Quentin singles to load the bases. Joe Crede takes the 2nd pitch and clears the RF wall by inches it seems with a GrandSlam to give the Sox a 7-3 lead. Linebrink gives up a run in the 8th but big bad Bobby Jenks closes the door with another save on a game ending double play.........YES!!!!!!

I feel it this year..its the same thing as 05'

We already beat our win streak from all of last year with 5!. These are tough teams in the toughest division in baseball.

It's gonna be a great year!

the difference betwwen 05' and 08' is that you guys had great pitching...right now your offense is carrying you guys, not sure if your pitching is as good as 05'....although i could be wrong since I havn't watched any white sox games.

-Isn't Contreras still struggling dating back from last year....
-I know Burhle got roughed up in his 1st start and bounced back nicely in his -second....which one will we see all year?
-and no more Orland "El Duque" Hernandez who is one of the best postseason pitchers.

Tru pitching is not what it was in 05 but our bullpen this year seems to be intact. We don't have the speed we had in 05 but Swisher and The O.C have already drawn walks and are getting on base so Thome - Konerko and Dye will have oppertunites to drive in runs. Plus the bottom of our lineup is equally sound.

Contreras is still iffy but has got it done in the past and is still capable of 12-15 wins i believe.

Burhle got rocked game one and bounced back nicely in game 2.

The season more or less falls on pitching......with high hopes and faith put into Javier - Danks - Floyd and Contreras it will be a wild fun year.

Its not the yankee or tigers line up but its capable of doing damage, plus when we have Dotel (7th) Linebrink (8th) Jenks (9th) to close out games we should hold on to most of the leads that out bullpen gets

I love the addition, had to give up Garland but if Danks and Floyd are half as good as we expect then i think we won't miss garland as much as we welcome The O.C

Orlando Cabrerra = Orlando Hernandez jajaja all we need is an Orlando on the team and we good.

Whats this i hear Joba hit 101mph??? friggin nuts........

i heard that in the offseason, Paulie to LAA for Kendrick the 2B and Ervin Santana i believe........not sure that helps us out that much but a decent pitcher and a good young 2B incase Uribe $ucks again or incase we can't sign O.C to a deal
