Yeah not having a new game since COD4 its been wierd lol i got Simpsons but played it a bit and its more of a fun game to play. MLB will be a nice addition to the rotation. Been going back to NHL08 and lots of arcade games to

Ok, now that we seem to have interest I believe we should start discussing some of the rules that we should follow to make this league fun....BTW, I copied most of these rules from other commisioners who I agree with (hahaha, to lazy to write all this stuff out)...anyways, lets get some discussion going on how we want to run the league...

1. Keep in mind, This is a SIM League. If you do not know what a sim league is please make yourself familiar. We know this is a video game, but our goal is to create a real baseball experience for everyone participating. We all like to win, but keep it SIM or hit the Lobbies.

2. Balls and Strikes: This topic/rule is always the center of attention in these leagues. If you're definition of sim includes throwing constant balls to get your opponent to swing and miss you will be on your way out the door. In baseball, every pitcher looks to get ahead in the count by pounding the strike zone. If you get out ahead of the batter, thats when you can throw junk to get him to chase. Anyone who abuses this (Trust me, We'll know who it is bc ppl bitch about this constantly) will be replaced. Having 1-0, 20 inning games sucks for everyone. Keep the ball around the plate, Change speeds and Mix up your pitches. You dont have to junk ball ppl to get them out. We want ppl to enjoy playing in these leagues, so respect your opponent and follow the few rules that we have.

3. Games Per Week: Maybe we set like a minimum of 3-5 games per week...since this is baseball, each game takes about 45min to an hour...so 3-5(whatever the majority wants), should be reasonable.

4. Pitching Rotations: Every team must follow a 5 man rotation. Your rotation must be posted on the website before you play any games. If you make trades and need to change your rotation, the changes will take effect when the rotation starts over. For Example, if you trade for Josh Beckett and he will be your #1 starter you must wait until you are at your #1 starter slot to pitch him. This is very easy to follow, heres how it should look:

Game 1-#1 starter
Game 2-#2 starter
Game 3-#3 starter
Game 4-#4 starter
Game 5-#5 starter
Game 6-#1 starter

Since our first league will probably be a short league, maybe we can shorten the roatation to 4 guys, let me know what your guys think of this rule....

5. Returning Messages: one of the founding rules of DSL, which I think needed reminding. If someone asks for a game, send them a message in return. If you can't do so at the time they ask you, just reply to them when you get a chance. This way nobody feels as if they are being ignored.

6.Throwing to 1B from the Outfield: Is not allowed. NOT SIM!

7. Suicide Squeeze: Each team is allowed 1 per game.

8. Run Downs- Getting yourself caught in a run-down on purpose is NOT allowed.


Anymore fellas, i think that about covers the game of baseball and playing SIM..

I agree with most of them seeing as it is baseball but the following i guess seem strange:

NOT SIM! - Do you not recall Paul O'neil throwing guys out at first from left field in his yankee days hahaha.........Perhaps i just need more clarification of this rule but if they do throw to first arn't you able to stretch a single into a double in some cases?

7. Suicide Squeeze: Each team is allowed 1 per game - I'm not sure if there should be a rule for this, if your playing small ball then this would be a strength for your team. If you have guys that can bunt shouldn't you be able to use them to thier abilities? It's almost like saying only 1 HR per person or something......again maybe i just need to play online to see how that rule really would be cheese or not.

Other then that i think it sounds good. Depending on how long the seasons can be either a 4 or 5 man rotaion would be cool

lets put it this way for rule # 6.....how many times have you seen someone get thrown out at 1st base from the outfield in last 5 years? I also remember in 2k6 it was very easy to gun people out at first from right field, so I just don't want this to be abused...

Again, for rule #7 I just copied from another commishner....hahaha. Maybe in 2k7 the suicide squeeze was impossible to stop? I don't know. Im sure we will figure out what the bugs in the game are before we start the league and adjust the rules accordingly.

Cool just was throwing it out there incase it should come up later.

Also if you have Vlad he has a cannon for an arm and if its a short fly ball hit by say Konerko who can't run odds are Vlad will throw him out before he gets near 1B hahaha

steel u serious about joining? and if so, i'd hope you pick a more competitive team than the pirates since this is going to be small league everyone is going to pick the elite teams....there are still some great teams remaining. But if you want the pirates, they are all yours.

ummm last i checked nope.........Precise is right i think we would all recomend you take a different team. Pirates would be like taking the dolphins jajaj then again this is a game so who knows. Other then Jason Bay and sanchez at SS i can't think of another Pitt player other then Bobby Bo and Barry Bonds from the 87-89 teams lol

Is there a roid option on this game? Also if I cant choose the Bucos can I choose Congress? They kicked some ass this offseason they got to have great ratings.

Ok since the Bucs could be a bad ideas since they are about to tie the record for consecutive losing seasons ill go with the Tigers. But reserve the right to swap to a higher rated team once game comes out.

Tigers might be one of the highest rated teams in the game, Cabrera adds more power to a lineup that has Mags and Sheff....pitching staff has gotta be top 10 if not top 5
