Re: MLB 2K8
You mean to tell me I can import Kurt Angle "You suck" theme for A-rod? I just might get the game for that reason alone

Re: MLB 2K8
Hearing mixed reviews on this. From glitchy frames (which can be caused if your settings are 1080I and not 720P) to freezing. Seems like the HR's are not as bad as before unless you leave one down the middle.
Re: MLB 2K8
The reviews I've seen so far (granted only two of them) are regarding the game pretty lukewarm. I was hoping for a major breakout this year... I'm a ways from getting it on gamefly (have a couple of games already out that I'm into), and it's not looking like a must buy for me, so if you guys are looking to start up asap, I might have to pass this time around.

Re: MLB 2K8
no problem at all man, thanks for the feedback. Was hoping Precise or someone would have taken off of work to get it and write a review hahaha may hold off till i hear more about it myself but would hope its as good as they say.........if not then Army of 2 or World in Conflict is next lol
Re: MLB 2K8
dayum man...another year, and supposedly this game now has framerate issues....don't want to drop $60 on the game with choppiness, but im so desperate for a baseball, I just might end up getting it. Danza, write up a review man, i know you got the game.

Re: MLB 2K8
Well so far its nice, there is a roster update to download but the Sox didn't have Dotel i had to sign but that was no issue. Started with the franchise mode and so far im lovin it, very in depth. Played 1 game and getting crushed lol took a break to watch some bulls and write this. Pitching is hard as hell yo no clue what im doing may have to read the book lol hitting is nice but hard to. Will need to play a while to get used to it but thats no biggie.
No choppieness for me yet but will let ya know. Graphics seem like they could have been better but they are not bad by any means

Re: MLB 2K8
Also there is the option to use classic controls with the A-B-X-Y buttons but i was only rocking the Right Stick
so far have only played 2 games White Sox vs. Indians. Lost both 6-4 and 7-4 and have gotten crushed pitching......almost like real life lol first time threw the rotation gave up 1 or 2 hits but they seem to alway put up a 3 spot in one inning then add a few late HR's to seal it. Still getting used to the pitching so hanging lots of balls over the plate.
The best way i can describe the pitching is to compare it to the slam dunk contest in NBA 2K8. You have to use the RS (right stick) by pulling it back - foward - left or right......then you have a circle that fills up (almost like when applying power boost in tiger woods) when the circle is filled you then move the RS in another motion as you would to dunk. If the timing is not right or you don't have a smooth motion you will leave that ball hanging or lose control and hit the batter or throw a wild pitch. I have walked in a few runs as well jajaja
Batting is fun but took some time getting used to. When using the hit stick its a simple 2 step process. When the pitcher is in motion you pull the RS down right before he releases the ball, this is called your step. When the ball approaches you thats when you time it out then puch it foward to swing. Hit only 2 hr's but its sweet when you hit the frozen rope down the line and play some small ball.
Fielding is tricky cause a few times i thought my 2B would make a play the ball went right by him so its a bit more sensitive. You use the RS to throw as well, with each directions repersenting the base to throw to.
the franchise mode so far is sweet, you can make it so that the owner gives you goals to accomplish with deadlines. AS the sox i had the following:
Win more the 79 games
Trade for a player who had 35+ SB last year or a player with an overall speed of 85+ with a 75 or higher rating
A revenue goal
Trade Jose Conteres - he is old and making to much money - hahaha something like that, which is why it was my fav. So like any good GM would do i started to look for trades.
Trades are alot easier to find now, not sure if they had this last year but you can select guys you want to trade (like trading block in NBA) then select what you want in return like a position player or speed - power - defense....ect or combine the options. I put up Conteres (83) Thome (84?) and McDougal (80) pretty much to get rid of the cap and was looking for a SP and speed. Got about 34 offers from Curt Shilling - Jon Garland - Gill Meche - Randy Johnson......but the one i picked was none other then the Yankee's who offered me Phill Hughes - Melky Cabrera and a (A) pitcher. You can also select a player you want, like Arod and it will put together deals that the CPU team would accept.

Re: MLB 2K8
great review man...im glad that pitching is challanging because thats the way it should be....all baseball games i have played, it sucked when my # 4 and 5 starters had CY young type numbers and pinpoint control...Can't wait to start my Yanks chise'...
BTW...have you uploaded any custom music for batter intros yet?...i want to know if they play through the loud speakers of the stadium.

Re: MLB 2K8
have not got that far yet, saw the option but between tweaking my roster and checking out all the cool stuff i was just dyin to get a game in lol...........hopefully its like Raw vs Samckdown where i can jsut dock my Zune and pull songs off that. Would hate to have to burn music to my xbox
Re: MLB 2K8
i think you might have to donwload the music onto your xbox. that is what i have had to do in the previous games.

Re: MLB 2K8
dang....seems like alot of work lol
Ok can someone explian the framerate issue? The only time i notice a delay is like between batters or innings. When a ball is hit into play i field it and throw it to first.......I don't notice any major delay that would make me whine like a little beach lol
Precise - I did throw out someone at first from RF with Dye hahaha just one thou

Re: MLB 2K8
some people experience the lag when throwing, consider yourself lucky that you don't have it or just don't notice....that lag between innings is not what everyone is referring to, its annnoying but doesn't effect gameplay. BTW, im not noticing any lag either

Re: MLB 2K8
i didnt see any problem beside with what you just stated. the game play oline is very laggy and takes time to get use to. i played one game online and lost 15-12. one thing i have a problem with is the hitting. on my game i can only hit useing the stick by pulling down and then pushing up. its the only way it works. i can not hit defensively or contact swing. its all swinging for the fences. a friend of mine said his works fine. maybe i just got a bad disc. let me know how yalls works and maybe it help me decide if i should get a new copy

Re: MLB 2K8
all games seem to lag online......like playing Ralph in NBA and going to shoot the ball but having to wait 2 second for him to start his motion hahaha but NCAA 08 had a slight delay and even MVP05 had one when pitching. I have yet to try an online game and offline have no real issues at all. Won my first game 9-3 and belted a few HR's maybe 3 or 4 in the game. Lots of 2 run shots.......
As far as the hitting i have to push it down then up as well. I am able to hit grounders and line drives but pop up alot and had a few warning track or hit off the wall.
Burhle lost game 1
Hughes lost game 2
Game 3 Javier Vasquez goes the distance with 7k's 3r 6h.........the pitching is sweet once i got used to it

Re: MLB 2K8
i have to hold down and then push up to swing also...isn't that the point of the swingstick?
Danza, you are so right man, the pitching is so much fun once you get used to it.

If I had the time & money, I would have joined you guys. I see Toran has it, soon 13Ralph will...

Re: MLB 2K8
Cise that is the point but in the book it says to pull back to take your step then if you let go it will be a contact hit where as if you push it forward its more or a power swing.
Pitching makes this game, much better then hitting a button then timing a meter like when kicking in madden. Hughes has his knucklecurve and its hard to pull off at times but it looks nasty.

Re: MLB 2K8
so what settings do you all play on? I started on rookie and the first games were close with me being able to get 4 saves in my first 6-8 games then it just got silly. Bumped it up to Pro and Thome was 3-4 with his first 3ab's home runs. Managed to hit 2 more and won 6-4 after giving up 3 runs in the 8th. Should i rock Pro to get the hang of it before jumping up or are you guys allready playing Hall of Fame or what ever the hardest setting is????
Playing on rookie is nice but 8 of my 9 starters are batting over .300 with Dye batting .629 hahaha

Re: MLB 2K8
i actually got some decent sliders over at another forum....i'll post them once i get a chance. One of thing the sliders fixes is all the amazing plays the AI makes in the infield....you can acutally grounders through the infield for basehits.

Re: MLB 2K8
hahaha i have noticed that the SS makes crazy Jeter-like plays but have also noticed that the SS is not always accurate with his throws and the 1B gets pulled off the bag alot
